Plastic surgeon Dr. Kiya Movassaghi recently sat down with Dr. Grant Stevens for a conversation on The Technology of Beauty, one of the most well-known podcasts in aesthetic medicine. The episode, recorded live at the Aesthetics Innovation Summit (AIS) 2026 in Boston, is now available to stream.
A Milestone Moment at AIS
For Dr. Movassaghi, this year’s Aesthetics Innovation Summit carried special significance on a few levels. Boston is where his career in plastic surgery began—he trained at Harvard Medical School, completing his general surgery residency at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and his plastic surgery residency through the Harvard Combined Plastic Surgery Program. Returning to the city for AIS 2026 was, in his own words, a homecoming.
“This is also homecoming for me, because this is where it all began for me in plastic surgery.”
The summit also marked the end of an era: Dr. Movassaghi attended his final board meeting with The Aesthetic Society at AIS 2026, closing out 14 years of board service with the organization. Over that time, he served in a number of leadership roles, including Treasurer, Vice President, and President-Elect of the executive committee, before completing his term as President.
Dr. Kiya Movassaghi is a board-certified plastic surgeon with 20+ years of experience. He is nationally respected and has served as President of The Aesthetic Society. With his extensive surgical expertise and an exceptional aesthetic eye, he helps patients achieve stunning, natural-looking results.
Closing One Chapter, Opening Another
Rather than slowing down after stepping away from the board, Dr. Movassaghi describes this moment as the beginning of a new and exciting phase of his career. He has been approached by industry partners across aesthetic medicine to collaborate on research and development projects, and he is embracing those opportunities fully.
“I’ve been approached by a lot of different industry partners to collaborate and work on different projects, and I’ve been having a great time with that. That’s my passion: research, development, education, and traveling the world, while staying busy in my practice.”
It’s a perspective that will resonate with anyone who has watched Dr. Movassaghi’s career over the years. Stepping away from a formal leadership role is not the same as stepping back—it’s simply, as he put it, “just the next chapter.”
