For men, facelift surgery can be catered to help achieve a younger-looking and refreshed appearance, while maintaining masculine good looks. Here’s what you should know if you’re considering consulting with Eugene board certified plastic surgeon Dr. Kiya Movassaghi about this procedure.
Dr. Movassaghi offers 3 facelift “levels”
Based on your signs of aging, Dr. Movassaghi will design a tailored procedure plan—what we call Level I, Level II, or Level III facelifting. Level I targets the neck specifically, and recovery is more streamlined. Level II also includes both the lower facial areas and the brow, and Level III facelifts give a complete transformation by including both the eyes and the cheeks. During a consultation, Dr. Movassaghi will help you decide what’s best for you, choosing the procedure that will yield your desired results.

Will people know I had a facelift?
A big concern for men getting facelifts is looking different, or looking like they have something done. Dr. Movassaghi is an expert at making changes that are noticeable, but not obvious—we like to tell patients that you can expect to look refreshed and rested, but not overdone.

Where are the scars?
Dr. Movassaghi hides incisions in the ears’ creases and in the hairline, and if you have a beard, this will also help to conceal them. Your scars will not be visible. As they heal, proper scar care and avoiding unprotected sun exposure can help scars to fade to fine, thin lines that closely match your skin tone.
When can I work out again?
Each person’s recovery is different, so Dr. Movassaghi will monitor your recovery in post-operative visits and will let you know when it’s safe to hit the gym and perform strenuous tasks again. For most patients, this falls within 4-6 weeks of their surgery.
Are there non-surgical options?
If you have milder wrinkles or signs of aging in your face and would like to explore alternatives to a surgical facelift, Dr. Movassaghi and our team would be happy to talk with you about the possibilities and limits of neuromodulators (Botox-type injectables) and dermal fillers for wrinkles, as well as topical skin rejuvenation options like radiofrequency (RF) microneedling and laser skin resurfacing—these can help with skin texture, fine lines, and red or brown spots. You may also choose to combine non-surgical procedures with a facelift to complement the results of your facelift.
