Why Patients Travel to See Dr. Movassaghi

Harvard-Trained Expertise: Dr. Movassaghi completed 14 years of specialized training after college, including Harvard Medical School, Harvard Dental School, general surgery, and plastic surgery with a craniofacial focus at Harvard’s Combined Program. This unique background—particularly his dental and craniofacial training—gives him an unparalleled understanding of facial anatomy from the inside out.
Dr. Movassaghi offers specialized expertise worth the journey:
- Deep plane facelifts with a unique leveled approach for natural, long-lasting facial rejuvenation
- Complex breast revision and reconstruction (author of “Shaping the Breast”)
- Post-weight loss body contouring
- Comprehensive facial analysis that considers bone structure and soft tissue
National Recognition with a Personal Touch: Dr. Movassaghi is an international trainer, Past President of The Aesthetic Society, and runs his own aesthetic fellowship program where surgeons who’ve completed residency spend a year learning from him. Yet he maintains the personalized, family-like care that comes with a boutique practice.
Treating Patients Like Family: Our practice’s focus has always been treating patients like we would treat our own families. This philosophy extends to the extra considerations traveling patients require.
Planning Your Visit
Initial Consultation Options
Virtual Consultation Option: For out-of-town patients seeking certain procedures, we offer an initial virtual consultation to discuss your goals, review your medical history, and determine if you’re a good candidate. This approach can save you a trip, helps give you confidence before making travel arrangements, and allows time to efficiently plan your in-person visits and coordinate any necessary medical clearances.
However, if you are interested in a breast procedure, then we strongly recommend starting with an in-person consultation, as surgical planning will require a thorough exam and measurements.
We recommend scheduling your consultation 2-3 months before your desired surgery date to allow adequate time for pre-operative preparations, medical clearances, and coordinating your travel.
In-Person Consultation: Your plastic surgery consultation typically takes 45-60 minutes and includes:
- Thorough physical examination
- Comprehensive conversation about your goals and priorities
- Detailed discussion of your surgical options
- Review of before-and-after photos of similar cases
- Personalized surgical plan development
If you choose to begin with a virtual consultation, we will also schedule an in-person consultation before your surgery to confirm details of your surgical plan, perform a physical exam, and spend time answering questions that may have arisen.

Surgery Day & Recovery Timeline
The length of your Eugene stay depends on your specific procedure and how far away you live. We see every patient on Day 1 post-op, so it is wise to stay nearby that first night. If you are a short drive away, you may not need to stay longer in Eugene, but if air travel is required, then you may need to stay several days before you are cleared to return home.
