Neck Lift Eugene

A smooth, refined neckline can improve your overall appearance

A neck lift can produce a more youthful-looking, contoured neck and provide your face with a slimmer, more defined appearance. You may desire a neck lift if you have localized deposits of fat in the anterior part of the neck under the chin (double chin) or excess neck skin and/or muscle sagging.

How is a neck lift performed?

A neck lift is done on an outpatient basis under sedation and local or general anesthesia. Dr. Movassaghi performs surgery at McKenzie Surgery Center or Sacred Heart Medical Center in Eugene, Oregon. The procedure may require an incision under the chin, behind the ears, or both. Fat is suctioned or excised, muscles may be tightened, and skin may be removed, all depending on individual findings.

What is recovery like from a neck lift?

After your neck lift, you’ll go home with your chin and neck wrapped in dressings or in an elastic neck sling. Initial discomfort is easily controlled with oral medication. Swelling and bruising disappear over approximately 2 weeks and your final results are evident in 1 to 3 months.

What are the risks of a neck lift?

The specific risks and the suitability of neck lift for a given individual can be determined only at the time of consultation. All surgical procedures have some degree of risk. Minor complications that do not affect the outcome occur occasionally. Major complications are rare.

Can a neck lift correct “turkey neck”?

Dr. Movassaghi is able to correct the appearance of “turkey neck”—when the neck muscles separate and hang lower—with platysmal plication surgery to tighten these thin neck muscles using sutures.

Can a neck lift be combined with other procedures?

While a neck lift alone can produce dramatic improvements in the neck and chin contours, patients frequently choose to combine procedures to achieve more total facial rejuvenation. Additional procedures that may enhance the results of a neck lift are:

For patients not quite ready for neck lift surgery, non-surgical skin tightening with Radiofrequency (RF) Microneedling or CoolMini chin fat reduction treatments may be a good option. RF Microneedling uses radiofrequency to tighten and firm skin and promote collagen growth, while CoolMini precisely freezes and removes fat deposits below the chin and around the neck to add definition to the chin and jawline.

Will insurance cover my neck lift?

The neck lift procedure is considered cosmetic and therefore is not covered by insurance. The patient is responsible for payment.
